violin class-day 1

My long term dream and wish came true today..it was to learn to play violin..
today was my 1st violin class.IT was fine.My tutor asked me lot of questions.they follow..
tutor:whats ur name?
me:dharini
tutor:what do u do?
me:2nd year B.tech IT in HICET.
tutor:do u listen to carnatic music?
me:yes i do..
tutor:hmm..which carnatic singer do u like?
me:priya sisters.
tutor:fine..which song do u like?
me:brahmam okkate..
tutor:...why did u choose to learn to play violin?
me:music from a violin is smooth and divine..thats the reason..
tutor:whats the use of learning music?

one of my classmate entered the hall and he was engaged in a conversation with him..

tutor:so u dont remember even 1 use of learning music?
me:(actually i paused to not to interrupt him)IT makes us divert from our routine,gives relaxation,...
tutor:hmm...we usually ask such questions to every student..dont bother..
me:(tiny smile played on my lips)...
tutor:Violin is the most complicated instrument of all...guess why??
me:my guess is because in violin we used two tools(the bow and violin part)...
tutor:...mmmm...so practice daily..
tutor:how is sound produced?
me:when two objects collide sound is produced..
tutor:exactly..but u r too specific..i say in general sound is produced by the vibrations

the class started and he taught for a gal then asked a boy to play as a test,then came a small boy of 7th class,he too is learning to play violin.
it was my turn to learn, follow carefully and learn the theory of violin with me.





I'm learning carnatic music in violin so the posture is important.
you sit on the floor with legs crossed.then stretch your right leg so that your toe is just in front of the left knee cap.rest the violin's scroll on your toe.you lean towards the violin and violin placed towards you ie., on you.fine..
Now the bow handling technique, it was quiet difficult for me..here it goes..
hold the rear end of the bow with thumb and middle finger on either side.fore finger little above the middle finger, spread your fingers for a comfortable hold.while bowing your folded palm should be parallel to the bow, this prevents wrist pain and shoulder pain aftermath..

Now the bowing part:bowing is sliding the bow to and fro over the string with constant slow speed and less pressure.
if u press the bow towards the string it creates a jarring sound and same results if you bow very slow..

i was good at it. tutor said "you are really good for 1st time bowing.."
awesome??? yeah i rock!!!
then was the class for other two students and i was staring at them and the first class was done..
Tutor asked me if i had any doubts, i said no..(i meant i dont hav any doubts in my part of class) he said doubt arises only when you have interest in this..i felt ashamed i'm realy interested in this..its okie for first day of class...i really enjoyed it..i'll be buying a black violin the coming friday and going play it till my craze is lost...
